Community Services Development Sector The sector provides multi-sectoral care, assistance and maintenance that facilitate the survival and attainment of the rights of the vulnerable Kakuma refugee population. This objective is met through five units: Child Development Unit, Gender Equity and Human Rights Promotion Unit, Youth Development and Protection Unit, Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Unit and Reception Centre Management. 
Child Protection Unit ensures community based sustainable survival, holistic development, participation and protection of children in Kakuma Refugee Camp. This is implemented through capacity building of communities. This unit carries out the following activities: Identification of unaccompanied, separated and orphan children in the camp, documentation of their social histories, their placement in foster families after Best Interest Determination (BID) assessment for each is conducted and subsequent regular home visits is among the key activities conducted by the unit staff. This ensures that the vulnerable category of children is protected and not exposed to sexual exploitation and abuse as well as child labour.
Food Distribution LWF is the leading agency in general food distribution and Non food items in kakuma refugee camp. The general food is received from WFP and Non food items are received from UNHCR to be distributed to the refugees.
