LWF/DWS Turkana project operates Turkana West District in North western Kenya. The project was initiated in 1999 to respond to the acute needs of the refugee hosting community which was found vulnerable due to its challenging envi-ronment that is prone to cyclic draughts and insecurity.

The project focuses on water provision, capacity building, peace building and conflict resolution, improved livelihoods and food security. The project focus areas were arrived at in response to the needs on the ground as established through baseline surveys conducted by LWF, GOK and other development agencies operating in the district.
Major Donors include DANIDA through Dan church Aid, SIDA through Church of Sweden among others.
