HIV/AIDS Awareness

LWF assists school students by creating awareness on HIV/AIDS and behavior change to their peers classes 5 to 8 in 12 schools across the Turkana West District. The core trainers (students) who are trained on the peer education approach and are provided with the necessary equipment to carry out the trainings for their fellow students and youth.

Skills training and micro enterprises

The project assists local host communities to exploit opportunities available to generate extra income to sustain their livelihoods through various trainings and setting up of groups for self employment. Examples of successful entrepreneurship includes hair dressing, livestock management, computer training and goat rearingĀ  A micro credit scheme has been established for the host community members to enable them access start up capital for income generating activities.



Capacity Building
Turkana project facilitates building the capacity of the local communities to be able to take over any infrastruc-ture from the refugee camp on their exit. So far one col-lege has been taken over and now serves the community as a primary school (Lopwarin) and another as a secon-dary school.
